more about why I'm writing again

After years of writing about mindfulness and stories from the side-streets of life (because that's where we learn, right?), I've returned to my childhood ways of surrounding myself with the wonder of books, and the words that reach us when they need to.

When you stop by more than letters on a line today you will read about what I'm reading, the thoughts I had when I was lost in the words, and the pieces that just didn't fit for me.

I am of an age, when I know what I enjoy, but am open to meet a new author and the voyage they will take me on. I prefer stories about growth, how a character changes, and what and how they do it. I do not read science fiction, or anything with monsters (please don't ask me to review your new book). But if there's history, old (favourite book: Pillars of the Earth), set in the1930s-1950s, mystery or murder, or current words on improving your life (Keep Sharp) then they might spend time with me and my notebook.

I'll let you know that I own very few books, the ones I keep are the ones that found me when I needed them and somehow changed my life, they are the ones that maybe, just maybe one day I will have the time to read again. And let's not forget that the words you read a week ago, a month ago or decades ago will have a different meaning for you today. Hence, more than words on a line today.

I absolutely support you buying any books that speak to you, I feel it's an important reminder to keep those moments that changed you close by. I for one am a big supporter of the public library, my happy place. Do what you like but keep reading!

Please, please send me the names of any books that you think my readers would also enjoy. But, you must tell me why, and saying that it kept you up until 1am reading is not good enough! I want to know why those particular words reached you.

You can also find my book reviews on NetGalley and Goodreads, but there will always be a little bit more here.

I will share a few reviews in the next few days, but don't worry, I'm just catching up and posts will be dropped less frequently after that.

Hope to see you again,
